Adventure Tourism Soars in Darjeeling as Paragliding Makes a Comeback

After a hiatus of seven years, paragliding has been reintroduced in Darjeeling, offering a 2.5km flight with stunning views of Kanchenjunga. Operated by the tourism Department of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, the experience is priced at Rs 3,500, inclusive of videography and transportation.

Since a shorter flying season compared to Kalimpong, the department is also planning to launch paragliding services in Kurseong, addressing landing issues to cover an aerial distance of 3km.

The initiative aims to boost adventure tourism in the region, with only registered adventure companies permitted to apply for paragliding operations.
